Certificates of Permissibility

The most obvious questions;

What are Certificates of Permissibility?

What does that mean to me?

Certificates of Permissibility are issued by the New Jersey Legalized Games of Chance Control Commission (NJLGCCC), for every amusement, arcade and redemption game legally in use in the State of New Jersey. It is illegal to sell, rent, lease or operate any type of device in New Jersey without a valid Certificate of Permissibility.

What that means is trust and honesty!

The device has been submitted for review to the NJLGCCC for type, description of device, method of play and conformance with regulations. If the proposed device is approved by LGCCC in this initial phase of the approval process, LGCCC authorizes an approved testing lab to test and verify the operation of the device as to manufacturers representations, integrity of the device and compliance with applicable LGCCC regulations.

If the device successfully completes scrutiny by an approved, licensed and certified testing lab, a written report is sent to NJ LGCCC recommending that the Commission approve the device for use in the State of New Jersey. Upon recommendation and motion by the Supervisor of Electronic Games at a regularly scheduled meeting of the Commission, a vote of the Board determines if the device will receive a Certificate of Permissibility.

Until such time as the NJ LGCCC website is updated, a valid lab report, available for inspection by regulators, inserted and secured in the device, is considered temporary authority for the use and operation of the device in the State of New Jersey.
In addition, and most importantly in our case, the device is reclassified and ceases to be under the jurisdiction of the New Jersey Casino Control Commission and New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement as a "Gambling Device". (Link to NJCCC Resolution 06-03-01-14)
